| Autti Dominates O'Neill Evolution Pipe |
| Pipe Practice 9am-11am: Good showing by all 3 FLOW riders Antti, Risto and Scotty. Things looked positive for the TEAM. Highest Air 1- 2pm: Highest air contest was lead by FLOW team rider Antti Autti for more than half the event. Things got exciting when Snowboard Legend Terje Haakonsen, soured .2 meters higher. Then it was on. The two battled for the remaining 30 minutes as the lead was shared by both and tied for some time. In the end Antti could not sour high enough to impress the judges, and the overall highest air went to Terje. Judges later told Antti one of his airs, which he claims, "I was just having Fun", was sited as being the highest air he did, with a FS 7, 4.8 meters out of the pipe. Later Antti said, "that was not my highest air, I am sure of it.", and we know judging is not an easy job. Pipe Semi qualifiers: 3-6pm Qualifiers for men were the highlight of this Friday night. In front of Davos Risto Mattila, Scotty Lago and Antti Autti powered though Semis to qualify for the night pipe session. The halfpipe was the first to bare the brunt of long day. From women's pipe highest air, and qualifiers, and then to men's highest air and semi qualifiers, the pipe really got beat up under the sun and warm temperatures. Pipe Finals from 7-10pm Under the lights and in front of 12 countries running live broadcasts and web-cast The Davos Evolution pipe finals took its claim on a hand full of riders, with walls open enough to cause many deck problems. One rider whom took the worst fall was FLOW rider Risto Mattila, who would not be able to finish the competition. His two teammates were a bit luckier. Scotty couldn't quite find the right groove and ended finishing 16 while Antti Autti had no problems at all. The Finnish Mafia member put together another perfect halfpipe run in judges mind and WON! His run was technical and clean with a FS 10, cab 7, FS 9, METHOD!, and an alley opp 9! |
